I’ll Put in a Complaint With the Tree

Brian Armer

“That tree has terrible manners,” he said when they stopped at the mountain overlook.

His friend glanced from the low branch to the tear in his riding sleeve. A fresh cut ran across his forearm. “It’s nothing,” the rider added, already looking toward the next bend in the trail.

They had tried for weeks to get a free morning together. Now the bikes were dusty, the climb was behind them, and the view was everything they’d hoped for. His friend didn’t want to spend the rest of their ride arguing about toughness. He wanted them both to be there for the next one.

“I’ll put in a complaint with the tree,” his friend said. “First, give me a minute.” He steadied the bike so the rider had a free hand, then passed him the tin he carried for days when skin breaks.

The rider applied Regenerate RX right there on the trail. Its apple cider vinegar begins cleaning on contact; the balm leaves protective coverage where the cut needs care. The formula is built to fight external microbial threats and help a wound close faster. That was a practical reason to stop now, not a reason to give up the morning.

His friend gave him the look that meant you could have done that without the speech. The rider grinned. “Fine. The tree wins this round.”

They stayed at the overlook a little longer. Neither needed to prove they could ignore an open cut, and neither had to head down alone. When they finally rolled their bikes toward the trail, the rider was still making plans for their next ride. His friend was already naming a route with fewer low branches.

That is what taking care of the skin you train in can look like: a friend who notices, a minute to act, and the freedom to make another plan together. Keep Zombie Sport Co close for the moments the trail doesn’t announce.
