She came back to the fencing club smiling. The week before, she had lost every bout. That was not the part she kept thinking about.

On her first night, she had stood at the edge of the piste wondering whether everyone else had learned the rules of belonging before she arrived. The movements looked so sure from outside a fencing mask. Inside hers, she was counting steps, trying to remember the distance, and hoping nobody noticed how much she wanted to get it right.

Her last opponent scored, lowered her foil when the bout ended, and took off her mask. Then she asked if the newcomer wanted to walk through that final exchange together. No pity, no speech about winning next time. Just a teammate making room for her to learn.

WHAT SHE TOOK HOME

After practice, the two talked while putting their gear away. Before leaving the shared training room, the newcomer reached for a water-based skin spray she had prepared with Infusion Hygienic Concentrate according to its directions. She sprayed her own skin, a simple before-and-after training habit that fit beside the respect she had just seen on the piste. Infusion can also be mixed into water-based liquid soap or body wash. Its place here was skin care, not cleaning a mask or fencing equipment.

They stepped outside together and promised to practice that exchange again. At home she set her mask by the door, ready for the next week. She had not found a shortcut to winning. She had found someone willing to stand across from her again, and a reason to come back smiling.
